    End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By June 2018, the percentage of students at Hayfield Secondary School, who are identified in gap sub-groups (LEP, Black, Hispanic, economically disadvantaged, and SWD) and who achieve a passing score, will increase by 3% as measured by the State of Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Math Assessments.

    Strategy 1

    • Students needing additional support in mathematics will be identified and will participate in intervention courses and/or intervention SOAR.

    Strategy 2

    • Students will engage in real-world problem-solving skills and student-centered learning activities in order to be prepared for life skills outside of Hayfield Secondary School.

    End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Student empathy and resilience will improve as measured by discipline, attendance, and by a resilience survey for students in the Transition Program SOAR.

    Strategy 1

    • Students in the rising 7th and 9th grades will be identified and invited to the summer Jump Start Program.

    Strategy 2

    • Students from the Jump Start Program will be invited to participate in a Transition Program SOAR which includes lessons on empathy and resilience.

    End of Year SMARTR Outcome

We will increase the number of students at Hayfield Secondary School who are identified as Young Scholars. We will increase the number of rising Young Scholar sophomores registered in an advanced academic class to 90%.

    Strategy 1

    • Students, families, and teachers will be informed about the mission, qualifications, and membership process for the Young Scholars Program.

    Strategy 2

    • Students will be informed through their course selection conversations with counselors and teachers what classes are available and will be encouraged to select advanced academic classes if they are prepared for the challenge.

    Strategy 3

    • Students who are Young Scholars will be able to receive a mentorship to serve as a guide and advocate through the AP Mentoring Group.
