English Language Arts
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to meet grade level expectations in English Language Arts.
Goal: By the end of the 22-23 school year...
On-time Graduation Rate:
- 75% of Students with Disabilities (SWD) and 80% of English Language Learning (ELL) students will score pass/pass advanced on Virginia EOC Writing Assessment or WorkKeys.
- 75% of Students with Disabilities (SWD) and 80% of English Language Learning (ELL) students will score pass/pass advanced on Virginia EOC Reading Assessment
Proficiency:
- 80% of high school students in grades 9-12 will score Proficient/Advanced on the Spring Reading Inventory.
- 85% of middle school students in Grades 7-8 will score Proficient/Advanced on the Spring Reading Inventory.
Growth to Proficiency Goal:
- 80% of English Language Learning (ELL) students in grades 7-12 will meet growth targets on the Spring Reading Inventory. ELL growth target: 25% raw score increase from Fall Reading Inventory to Spring Reading Inventory.
- 75% of Students with Disabilities (SWD) in grades 7-12 will meet growth targets on the Spring Reading Inventory. SWD growth target: 25% raw score increase from Fall Reading Inventory to Spring Reading Inventory.

Mathematics
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics.
Goal: By the end of the 22-23 school year...
On-time Graduation Rate:
- 70% of English Language Learning (ELL) students will be enrolled in a course at, or above, AFDA/Algebra 2 and pass the mathematics course.
- 60% of Students with Disabilities (SWD) will be enrolled in a course at, or above, AFDA/Algebra 2 and pass the mathematics course.
Proficiency:
- 70% of English Language Learning (ELL) students will score Proficient/Advanced on the Spring Math Inventory.
- 60% of Students with Disabilities (SWD) will score Proficient/Advanced on the Spring Math Inventory.
Growth to Proficiency Sub-Goals:
- 85% of students in grades 7-12 will show improvement by consistently applying Shift 8 strategies (from looking at correct answers toward looking for students' thinking) into their problem-solving process.
Strategies:
- Strategy 1 Teachers will shift from looking at correct answers toward looking for students’ thinking. Teachers will unpack Content Emphases and identify specific vocabulary, strategies, or representations that are important to notice based on the learning intentions.

Strategy 2 Teachers will shift from looking at correct answers toward looking for students’ thinking. Teachers will identify and plan 'look fors' in student observation, student responses to questions, and written work to determine what students understand.

Strategy 3 Teachers will shift from looking at correct answers toward looking for students’ thinking. Teachers will look for evidence of student thinking vs correct answers; basic, intermediate, or disciplinary. Teachers intentionally group students based on what students understand related to specific strategies or representations.

Strategy 4 Parent and Community Engagement: Teachers monitor students progress related to the specific strategies or representations and communicate students progress to parents and families.
ESSER III Wellness
Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment.
Goal:
As indicated on the Spring 2022-2023 SEL screener, at least 38% of Hayfield students grades 7-12 will indicate a positive connection with an adult at school. This represents a 16% increase for grades 7-8 and a 11% increase for grades 9-12 as compared to the 2021-2022 school year, and aligns with the current FCPS county average.
Strategies:

Strategy 1 Strengthen Hayfield's Tier 1 Evidenced- Based Strategies (CASEL RAM and PBIS).

Strategy 2 Provide targeted student support to increase feelings of connectedness to the Hayfield community.

Strategy 3 Provide opportunities for school-family partnership and family engagement to link positive relationships with adults at home with those at school.
Portrait of a Graduate (POG)
Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26.
Goal:
100% of students will demonstrate increased understanding of POG as reported on a student survey given through Learning Seminar at the beginning of the year, and at the end of the year.
Strategies:
- Strategy 1 The school will build an understanding with staff about why POG attributes and skills positively impact students within and beyond school.
- Strategy 2 The school will build an understanding with students, and the community about why POG attributes and skills positively impact students within and beyond school.
