Schoology at Hayfield

We are excited to share that students, parents, and teachers in our Hayfield Secondary school community will pilot Schoology (pronounced /SKOO-luh-jee/), FCPS’s new learning management system, to engage with learning materials and our school community during the 2020-21 school year.  Our teachers have been participating in professional development this summer so they can create an engaging, student-centered environment for all students.

Schoology is a learning space where students will go each day to access the links to attend classes and find all things related to their classes.  It enhances face-to-face and distance learning through communication, collaboration, and personalized learning.  With Schoology, students can submit homework assignments online, review teacher feedback, participate in interactive discussions, read announcements, take tests, and more.

Students are able to login to Schoology now.  Please encourage your student to log into the platform prior to September 3, the day of Virtual Orientation. The process for logging in is detailed below and can also be viewed in this video.

  • Students click on the Schoology icon on their desktop if they recently picked up their laptop at Hayfield and logged in on campus or if they went to school and got the updates by logging on while on campus. 
  • If your student has had their laptop at home since last year, the icon is not on their desktop.  They will access the Schoology site from the link on the Hayfield site or at  Use Chrome.
  • To access their Hayfield classes with teachers, students will click on the Collaborate Ultra links within each individual class.

Technology Help Desk Information

If your student has forgotten their login password or for any other technology issues, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk.  The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).  Staff members are available to answer your questions between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. seven days a week.  If support is needed in a language other than English, ask for an interpreter, and one will join in live on the call.  If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will request help from the appropriate FCPS team.  FCPS has also set up an FCPS parent and STudent IT Support Portal for students (or parents/guardians) to request help directly.

For Parents

As a parent, starting on September 2, you will be able to view your student’s classes, participation, comments from their teacher, and feedback on assignments and work.  Here is a 3 minute video for parents on Schoology:  FCPS Website Schoology Link.  More parent access information will come soon.

We recommend students begin logging-in 5-10 minutes prior to the first period.  The orientation information and schedule is also posted in Schoology in the Student All courses.
