Mr. Mitchell Recognized as FCPS 2020 Region 3 Outstanding Secondary Teacher
Congratulations to speech and drama teacher Pat Mitchell who was recognized as the FCPS 2020 Region 3 Outstanding Secondary Teacher and one of five finalists for the 2020 Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award!
Pat is a proud graduate of FCPS and in his nine years of teaching, he has made building relationships with his students and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment the central focus of his theatre program. In his classroom, students develop the capacity to take risks and feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. Many of Dr. Mitchell’s students have been observed entering his classes at the beginning of the year as timid and shy, but throughout the year grow into more confident, self-assured, and resilient individuals. He teaches students to value their own uniqueness and capabilities, which foster social and academic successes extending to all aspects of his students’ lives.
