Encouraging 100 percent acceptance is a hallmark of the student-led Hawk Student Ambassador (HSA) program  that brings military-connected and civilian Hayfield Secondary students together. HSA welcomes incoming students to Hayfield by greeting them on their very first morning, giving them a tour of the school, making sure they have someone to eat with during lunch, inviting them to monthly new student mixers, and then checking back in with them to make sure they are getting connected to the Hayfield community. HSA members take part in an intensive training program conducted under the close supervision of their faculty sponsors.

The training addresses communication skills, leadership skills, how to make and build connections, and team-building. HSA members are more than a Hayfield welcoming committee, they are serving as leaders to create an even more positive and accepting culture at the school.
