This week you could hear students in the library asking for a hand, (or a leg or some eyes), as they enjoyed creating FrankenToys.

Newly-minted Hayfield Secondary School graduate Eryn Yarrell isn’t afraid of doing things a little out of order. Eryn graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with her associate’s degree last month, 19 days before she crossed the stage to receive her high school diploma.

Congratulations to school counselor Ghil Onyou Hong who was recognized as the FCPS 2022 Region 3 Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee and one of the six finalists for the FCPS Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee at this year's FCPS Honors event, held at George Mason University Center for the Arts on June 8th.

The undefeated Hayfield SS state champion boys basketball team was recently recognized by the FCPS School Board.

The Hayfield Choir is back in action! After a three-year hiatus from Annual Assessments, all choirs received high rankings of Superior in sight reading! Additionally, the Advanced Choir received an overall rating of Superior for their onstage performance, and the Mixed Choir and Middle School Choir both received high Excellents. We are so proud of them!

The 2021-22 Hayfield Band has been named a Virginia Honor Band. This distinction is awarded to bands achieving superior ratings at the state marching festival and district concert festival. These programs are recognized with the highest honor that can be bestowed upon bands by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association.

Two Hawks, Maya Yonas and Ryan Kiefer, have been recognized as young people who work as peacemakers. They responded to pandemic-related stress among students by creating a Guided Meditation Group for Hayfield.

In honor of National Violin Day, December 13, 2021, students from the Chamber Orchestra Class performed in the library during lunch periods.

In honor of National Play Monopoly Day, students took a break from stress to play Monopoly in the library

The Hayfield Secondary School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors at the FCPS School Board meeting on November 11.

Students spent some time after school having fun and showing their creativity making Frankentoy creations.
