The students of the Advanced Information Systems Course and Mrs. Chiplock have integrated the The Virginia Student Training and Refurbishment Program (Virginia STAR or VA STAR) as a class project in it's 3rd year now. This course worked collaboratively with the Ft. Belvoir Wounded Warrior Program to set a goal to rebuild and refurbish laptops for the Wounded Warrior soldiers in need.  These students refurbish computers and work toward IT industry standard certifications, as well as meet the needs of their SOL's regarding hardware and software for this course with this project. The program helps teach students to refurbish surplus computer hardware from government agencies and private companies. The final piece of their project is to articulate their knowledge for a night dedicated to training, closing the digital divide and building community within our Hayfield community. This video is a reflection of our Bridging the Gap/Closing the Digital Divide Giveaway evening on Monday, November 26, 2018.
